White Shiplap Accent Wall in San Jose
Projects Accent Walls
Sometimes, a room needs texture to feel complete. For this San Jose project, the homeowner initially planned to paint the wall beside the kitchen and dining area. After discussing the space, we suggested white vertical shiplap to connect the two areas visually.

The finished wall brings together the white kitchen cabinetry, doorway trim, and dining space with a consistent color palette and a subtle architectural pattern.

Connecting the Kitchen and Dining Area

The kitchen already featured white cabinets with framed doors and glass-front upper cabinets. The adjacent wall offered an opportunity to carry that character into the dining area.

White shiplap adds depth while keeping the room light and understated. Its vertical lines complement the cabinetry and draw the eye upward, giving the wall a more defined presence without introducing a competing color.

Working Around the Doorway

The doorway is an important part of this design. The shiplap continues above and alongside the door, while the white casing creates a clear frame within the paneling.

At the ceiling and floor, trim gives the installation a finished edge. These transitions help the feature feel like part of the room’s architecture.

The result is a cohesive wall that connects naturally with the surrounding cabinetry and wood-look flooring.
